Developments in logistics
In the wake of the internationalization triggered by the creation of the European single market, companies farm out more and more logistics processes to specialized providers. Outsourcing enables businesses to focus on their core competences, and soon becomes standard practice. Freight forwarders become logistics providers. Transport, transshipment and warehousing are no longer separated from procurement, production and sales, but come to be regarded as an interface between the various functions.

History of Dachser
In 1990 DACHSER becomes the first western German freight forwarder to offer full coverage of the eastern part of the country. In 1994, the company's air and sea freight activities are merged to form today's DACHSER Air & Sea Logistics, becoming an autonomous business unit within the organization. Five years later Dachser expands its European network by acquiring the French logistics provider Graveleau. 2007: Dachser employs 17,100 people and generates a turnover of € 3.5 billion.
