Developments in logistics
The EFTA and EEC treaties create the conditions under
which transport and freight companies, which had previously
operated on a primarily national basis, begin to work
internationally. The volume of freight moved by road and
air increases sharply. Advances in data processing enable
companies to improve their administrative processes and
present them with completely new organizational challenges.

History of Dachser
In 1979 the company's founder, Thomas Dachser, dies. His
daughters, Dr. Christa Rohde-Dachser and Annemarie Simon,
take over his shares, preserving the tradition of the
family-owned company. From 1980 onwards, DACHSER makes
major strategic investments in EDP and communications
technologies. In 1981 DACHSER becomes the sole German
member of the WACO (World Air Cargo Organisation). In
1982 the company introduces refrigerated goods services,
specializing in the transportation of temperature-sensitive
foods (DACHSER Food Logistics).
