Developments in logistics
An economic upswing paves the way for a boom in the transport market. The initial aim is simply to move goods from A to B, with the major focus on creating links between the emerging economic centers. European freight grows strongly, although it still faces significant customs and border clearance formalities. Demand for air and sea freight services also begins to expand.

History of Dachser
From 1950 onwards, a full-coverage network is built up in Germany. Dachser launches and develops its road, air and sea freight activities. DACHSER's air freight business really takes off when the company is granted an IATA license by the International Air Transport Association on 2 October 1951. In 1955 the partnership with the newly-founded Lufthansa airline is placed on a contractual basis. By the end of the 50s, DACHSER has some 1,100 employees and generates a turnover of over DEM 70 million.
