Developments in logistics
The national railways in the countries of the German Reich are regional monopolies, and provide the main means of transport for passengers and goods. Increasing volumes of transported goods in the 20s boost the growth of the Reichsbahn railway network. At the same time, businesses increasingly recognize that flexible truck transport offers major advantages in terms of service and cost.

History of Dachser
In 1930 Thomas DACHSER founds his one-man business in Kempten/Allgäu (southern Germany). The main product shipped is Allgäu cheese, destined chiefly for the Rhineland. The company's first branch offices, e.g. in Memmingen and Neuss, are opened from 1934 onwards. By 1938 DACHSER has twenty vehicles (most of which are owned by the company itself), making it the leading transport company in the Allgäu region.
